JNF - Winnipeg & Saskatchewan Region Annual Tu B’ Shevat Telethon
On Sunday, February 12th from 2 pm – 9 pm marks JNF’s annual Tu B’ Shevat telethon, held at the multi – purpose room (MPR) at the Asper Jewish Community Campus.
Tu B’ Shevat is a very special day of celebration for the Jewish National Fund/Keren Kayemeth Le’Israel, as it is closely associated with our afforestation program and the protection of the environment.
This year, JNF will be planting Acacia trees in the Arava Valley (Israel). Life in the Arava would not be sustainable without them. Acacia trees are the basis of the eco-system, providing a source of nitrogen to the soil for farming. Its roots offer protection from soil erosion and its leaves and pods serve as fodder to desert animals as well as livestock where they would otherwise go hungry.
Rob Berkowits, Executive Director of JNF Manitoba & Saskatchewan Region is confident, “ that donors will answer our call on Sunday February 12th to adopt Acacia trees to help the Arava Valley become a fruitful, secure and strong community.”
